Christmas, 2011

My thoughts at this time of year turn inward, as do those of so many others in the world to what this season means not only to us, but to those amongst us as well.

Do you know what MY fondest Christmas wish is?
I want to actually become Santa Claus, for real.

What better symbol than Santa exists to remind the child in all of the true spirit of Christmas, of giving and what it not only does for others but means to our inner selves, our soul?
John 15:13 tells us "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
This is the very definition of the selfless act, one that many including The Master has given.

There IS hope in the world today. I have seen and read countless stories this year regarding people who have given selflessly and anonymously to others, even when they themselves  may have been in need.
Sacrifice.
Selflessness.
Kindness.
Thoughtfulness.
Love.

One of my favorite passages in the Christian bible is from Luke 2:8 and I'm sure you Charlie Brown fans all remember Linus' recitation:

There were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
When, lo, the Angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone 'round about them: and they were much afraid.
And the Angel said unto them: "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
This shall be a sign unto you; You shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger."
And suddenly there was with the Angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, "Glory be to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will towards men."

Perhaps we should give pause and thought to the gravity of these words each and every day, be we Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Islam, Buddhist, Agnostic and yes, even Atheist.
You don't have to be a Christian to understand that if you want to change the world, you must first embrace peace, joy and kindness towards ALL mankind. Even those who have wronged you.

That's what Luke 2 and John 15 are all about. Similar stories fill volumes of every religious text from all faiths. This is no coincidence.

We have little time left my friends before what we have known about reality itself begins a radical transformation. Let these words ring true in your heart and manifest themselves in the daily actions of your life.
Spread the Good News of the majik that you know; do not preach a specific religion, but let words of love and the miracles surrounding you spring forth to water the seeds that are so in need.

Peace be unto you and yours at this blessed time.
Amen.
